How our reviews work
GearPlain publishes research-based reviews and comparisons of everyday technology. Our purpose is to explain which features matter in a real situation, what each approach gives up, and when an upgrade is unnecessary.
Research, not claimed hands-on testing
Our current articles use published documentation and practical scenario analysis. We have not conducted the hands-on tests that would be needed to claim measured battery life, sound quality rankings, durability results, charging temperatures, or verified long-term reliability. When discussing a possible benefit, we distinguish it from a measured result.
Sources and technical claims
We prioritize standards organizations, official support documentation, and manufacturer instructions. References appear in the article so you can check the underlying information. Published specifications describe an intended capability; they do not guarantee that every device combination or environment will deliver the same result.
Compatibility can depend on a device model, operating system, cable, power profile, or regional version. We encourage checking the documentation for the exact equipment you own. We avoid price comparisons and availability claims that become stale without continuous updates.
How we reach a verdict
We begin with a concrete use case, compare the relevant formats, and explain their limitations. Each guide offers a plain-language takeaway, a comparison table, practical selection criteria, and reasons to skip a purchase. There are no invented numeric ratings or awards based on unperformed tests.
Independence and commercial relationships
This version of GearPlain does not contain affiliate shopping links, paid placements, or sponsored reviews. Reference links are included to explain the research. If commercial relationships are introduced, they will be disclosed clearly alongside the relevant content. Our Affiliate Disclosure describes that policy.
Images and editorial assistance
Our lifestyle photographs illustrate contexts such as working, listening, commuting, and using devices. They are not photographs of GearPlain testing a product, and visible brands are not evidence of a partnership. Credits and source information appear with articles and on the photography credits page.
AI-assisted drafting and editing may be used to organize explanations and improve readability. This does not replace source checking or provide evidence of firsthand experience. The site's publisher remains responsible for what GearPlain publishes.
Corrections and updates
Send a correction through our contact form, including the article URL, the statement in question, and an authoritative source when possible. We review reported errors and update material information when verified. Publication and revision dates should describe actual editorial changes, not an artificial appearance of freshness.
